Cap City Win Spring 2019 League Title & Fighting Bobs take Helge Boes Cup post-season honors

"Defense Wins Championships"

Cap City with a hard-fought and competitive campaign, rightfully earned the WPL Spring 2019 League Championship title, proving their mettle and demonstrating their class over one of the most arduous and competitive seasons on record.  Cap City had the advantange over Brainstorm, a new team, which surprised many on their way to get second place, with their regular season victory over the newcomers.

But Cap City's season success, which earned them #1 seed into the Helge Boes Cup, was not to last into the post-season, as they met #4 Fighting Bobs, who proved the time-worn, but true, adage that "Defense Wins Championships".   In the Boes Cup Semi-Final, Bobs scored 1 goal on Cap CIty and held on to advance to Boes Cup Spring Finale.  Bobs had been Boes Cup Championship twice before, but never managed to earn a Cup title.

In the Finale, Bobs faced Brainstorm, a new team to the WPL but with its share of league veterans and campaigners.  To get to the Boes Cup Championship match, #2 seed Brainstorm beat #3 seed Yinz -- the Fall 2018 defending league Champions and Boes Cup winners.  Yinz, no stranger to veterans and campaigns, had even parlayed its success in USASA State titles and Regional tournaments as finalists -- proving their class, but perhaps at the cost of fixture congestion throughout the Spring season.  A fresher Brainstorm advanced over Yinz to meet the #4 seed Bobs in the Boes Cup Finale.
